The company provides complete travel packages to Mexico's major destinations
year-round and through this process we have established strong relationships
with many hotels and airlines. Due to these relationships we are able
to buy our space at substantial discounts, which we are able to pass
on to our customers. We are approved by IATAN, ARC, and ASTA which
certify that the agency has met the standards of professionalism,
competency, and integrity as set forth by the International Airline
Travel Agent Network, Airline Reporting Corporation and the ASTA,
short for the American Society of Travel Agents, is the world's largest
association of travel professionals.
Is Mexico Destinations
Inc. a member of the Better Business Bureau?
Yes, Mexico Destinations Inc. is a member of the Better Business Bureau
of San Diego. We participate in the Better Business Bureau's Membership
Identification Program. this means that we have committed to cooperating
with BBB efforts to resolve disputes that may arise under this contract.
Upon your request, we will agree to mutually binding arbitration of
certain unresolved disputes. There are limits as to the kinds of claims
that may be arbitrated -- call the BBB for more information.
What documents will
I need to travel into and out of Mexico?
If you are a U.S. citizen, you must have one of the following documents,
along with picture I.D. (driver's license, state/government I.D. card,
valid US Passport):
- Original birth certificate.
- Certified copy of your original birth certificate.
- Valid U.S. Passport.
You will use one of the three items shown above to obtain your Tourist
Card, which is a form that will be provided to you prior to departure
at the airport. If you are not able to provide one of these documents
you will NOT be permitted to travel to Mexico. If you are denied travel
for this reason Mexico Destinations Inc. will not be held responsible.
If you are not a U.S. citizen, it is YOUR responsibility to check
with your Consulate as well as the Mexican Consulate to determine
what documentation is required of you. The Mexican Consulate’s
telephone number in Los Angeles is (213) 351-6800 or (213) 351-2069.
Do not put this off until the last minute. The Consulates usually
take sixty (60) days to give you all the necessary documents.
Tourist Tax is $195.00 PESOS = $21.00 us dollars (this is not included)
If your trip in Mexico is more then 72 hours
*If you are traveling to Northern Baja destinations Rosarito Beach
or San Felipe and you are an American citizen the Tourist Card is
not required if your stay is LESS then 72 hours. This tourist tax
would only be collected as soon as you enter into Mexico.
How much money should
I bring?
This question depends entirely on the spending habits of the individual
traveler. It is possible to survive in Mexico on next to nothing.
However, that is not the way the typical traveler likes to spend vacations.
It is a good rule of thumb to allow for a minimum of $50 - $75 per
day to spend on food, drinks, parties, souvenirs and excursions. If
you are a big spender you may want to bring more.
Do I need to exchange
my dollars for pesos?
No, you do not need to exchange your dollars for pesos. Although Mexico's
official currency is the Peso, the majority of vendors in all of Mexico's
major destinations are happy to accept your dollar in its place. You
will also find that the majority of vendors list prices in Dollars
and in Pesos. In the case that you do find the need to obtain Pesos,
most major hotels have money exchanges for their patrons.
Do you use chartered (non-commercial) flights?
No way, TourMexico.com only uses select commercial airlines. By doing
this, we avoid the numerous problems associated with companies that
run charter flights, such as last minute and frequent changes in itinerary,
sudden cancellations of trips, the most inconvenient flight hours
and the complete lack of protection against weather, missed flights
and missed connections. Our primary air carrier is AeroMexico Airlines.
For the past 6 years, AeroMexico has achieved an on time performance
rating of 95%, and complimentary bar service is offered after 11.00AM
on flights longer than 1 hour so you can start your vacation early.
Other airlines include Alaska Airlines, America West, Aero California
and Mexicana Airlines.
Do the hotels in Mexico
require deposits?
All hotels do charge a deposit during spring break in the form of
credit card or cash. When they do, they usually charge a deposit per
room. This deposit is refundable upon hotel checkout as long as there
are no damaged or missing items on or from the property. You are responsible
for the condition of your room. If you find something is broken or
damaged in some way when you first enter your room, immediately report
it to the front desk. The hotel management will not tolerate room
parties and will evict you should you become a problem. In general,
you cannot bring cans or bottles into the hotel rooms. They will be
confiscated if found. The hotel management may also confiscate your
luggage if your room is found to be damaged in any way. You will be
charged for missing or damaged pillows, towels, etc. Items that are
property of the hotel are very expensive, so do not take or damage
anything in your room. Please remember that we are not responsible
for hotel maintenance, policies, or services.
Is travel insurance
available?
Yes, and we strongly recommend you purchase it.
What are the hotels
like?
We provide descriptions and pictures for each of the hotels we use.
To find out more about a particular hotel, go to the web page for
the city you are interested in and click on the link for the particular
hotel.
When will I receive my travel documents?
Official travel documents will be sent when your full payment is received
by Mexico Destinations. We are unable to send official documents such
as hotel vouchers or airline tickets until full payment is received.
Once payment has been received our processing time is within two weeks.
Changes are not permitted once full payment is received.
What is your cancellation
policy?
Cancellations must be made in writing and sent by registered mail
to Mexico Destinations, 1902 Market Street, San Diego CA 92102, prior
to 20 days of the scheduled departure date. Cancellations and changes
are not permitted if official travel documents have been issued due
to FAA contracts. Cancellations made prior to 20 days of your scheduled
trip and from which documents have not been issued will forfeit the
non-refundable deposit. Cancellations made within 20 days of scheduled
trip are not subject to refunds. For protection against cancellations
it is recommended that all travelers purchase Travel Insurance. See
